As part of the application for admission to Redeemer, incoming students will be asked to complete a Life at Redeemer form which is the housing questionnaire used to place students in dorms. The Life at Redeemer form asks questions about your personality and preferences which we will use to match you with a group of incoming students and a Residence Advisor (RA). The Residence Life office will communicate housing placements by mid-summer, connecting you with your RA and future dormmates.

Guaranteed Housing

We believe living in residence is an important and meaningful part of your experience at Redeemer.

  • For the 2021-2022 academic year, all first and second year students born on or after May 1, 2002 are required to live on campus and are guaranteed a placement in housing.
  • Students who are married or choose to live with a parent or guardian may be exempt from this requirement.
  • Students who do not meet the criteria for this guarantee are still welcome to apply to live in residence. Placements will be assigned as availability allows.

On-Campus Student Leadership

Our Residence Life staff are eager to help you connect with the resources, support services and involvement opportunities available on campus.

  • A Resident Advisor (RA) is a current upper-year student who lives in residence with first-year students to provide guidance and support, engaging weekly devotions and countless opportunities for you to have fun and make friends.
  • A Housing Advisor (HA) is typically a second or third year student who lives and works in returning student residences.
  • A Residence Life Facilitator (RLF) is an upper year student who lives on campus and serves as a support and resource for students in housing. They are available to respond to urgent situations, plan events and lead RA/HA Small Groups.

Roommate Requests

In your housing application, you can request someone as a roommate (same room) or a dormmate (same dorm). If only one of you mentions the request on their housing application, we will follow-up with each of you to confirm before placing you in the same dorm.

Because part of the university experience is getting to know other people, we do ask that you limit the amount of people you request to live with to just one other person. Requests for a particular RA can not be guaranteed but are taken into consideration.

How does the selection process work?

After the majority of housing applications are received (by May), the Residence Life staff team begins to review and pray over each application. We realize that often sleeping and cleaning habits are important factors for compatibility, even more so than majors or similar extracurricular activities. We will look at sleeping and cleaning habits, as well as interests that you have and match you not only to fellow dormmates, but also to an RA. Typically, requests for a particular residence can not accommodated because we base the residence groups based on personalities rather than location.
