Why a Food Drive?
For thirty-five years, the Neighbour to Neighbour Centre has worked towards alleviating the burden of poverty in Hamilton. Their emergency food bank provides 5-7 days of essential food to over 1,500 families each month. Over 150 Redeemer students volunteer during this food drive.
Redeemer believes that good citizens contribute to the community in which they are a part. We want our students to practice good citizenship throughout their university career, starting with supporting the Neighbour to Neighbour Centre through a community food drive during their first week at Redeemer.
Please help us support those in need as well as teach our students the value of community service by donating generously.
How to Donate:
On Monday, September 4th, our students will be delivering a flyer and paper grocery bag to over 3,500 homes in the Meadowlands. Simply fill this grocery bag with non-perishable food items and place it on your front porch by 6 p.m. on Friday, September 8th for pick-up.
Do you still have a bag to be picked up?
Thank you for your donation! If you still have your food drive bag to be donated, please send an email to stlife@staging.redeemer.ca or call 905.648.2131 x4671 with your phone number to arrange for a pick-up time.
Rain Date:
We will postpone the collection if we deem it is unsafe for our students to be outside. If it is raining, please visit this page to see if we are still coming by to collect. Our revised collection date would be Saturday, Sept. 9th at 10 a.m.
Help us reach our goal of 10,000 pounds of food!
The new students of Redeemer University hope to collect over 10,000 pounds of food. Over the past nine years, a total of over 78,000 pounds of food has been collected for Neighbour to Neighbour.
