Degree Programs
Redeemer offers about 40 different majors and streams that lead to either a Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Business Administration, Bachelor of Kinesiology or Bachelor of Education degree.
Experiential Learning
Eight-month co-op work terms are available for students in Business, Urban & Intercultural Ministry and Kinesiology. Internships are available in 14 different programs. Students in all programs can take advantage of volunteer and off-campus opportunities as well as career guidance through the Career Centre. Learn more about Experiential Learning.
Affiliation
Redeemer is an interdenominational institution with students representing more than 45 different denominations. Our mission statement is based on the Reformed Christian tradition.
Admissions Standards
We welcome students who, through their previous studies or experiences, have demonstrated the ability to succeed and are interested in the mission and purpose of Redeemer.
Tuition and Fees
For the academic year of 2022-23, enrolment costs are: $9,800 for tuition ($17,682 for American/International undergraduate students and Bachelor of Education students), $6,640 – $7,640 for housing, $820 for students fees, $2,184 to $3,082 for meal plans.
Financial Aid
Students can take advantage of a wide range of financial aid options such as scholarships, bursaries, on-campus employment, and government assistance programs. In 2018-19, 89% of students received assistance from various sources, totalling more than $8 million.
Enrolment
In the fall 2022 term, 1,089 students were enrolled, representing 9 Canadian provinces and 27 other countries.
Student/Faculty Ratio and Class Size
The average class size at Redeemer is 20, and classes range from 1 to 100 students. Our student to faculty ratio is 15:1.
Faculty/Staff
Currently there are 44 full-time and 49 part-time faculty. Faculty members are engaged in teaching, research and service to the community. Redeemer also employs 85 full-time and approximately 25 part-time staff, and 19 coaches.
Faculty Research
Redeemer faculty conduct high-quality research in the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences. The Albert M. Wolters Centre for Christian Scholarship supports original research among our talented faculty and extends their influence in the public square.
Research Expenditures
Research activities have been supported in part by the Natural Sciences & Engineering Research Council of Canada, the Social Sciences & Humanities Research Council of Canada and other funding agencies and donors. In 2021-2022, 15 faculty members received $246,720 in research grants and funding.
Alumni and Graduate Employment Statistics
Since the first commencement exercises in 1986, Redeemer has more than 6,500 alumni who are reflecting the love and hope of Jesus Christ wherever they are called. Approximately 34% of all graduates have continued their education in professional and academic programs in more than 90 graduate schools across Canada, the US and around the world. Redeemer alumni can be found working in a wide range of businesses, social service agencies and public institutions.
Campus Features
Redeemer is located on a beautiful 86-acre campus in Ancaster, part of the city of Hamilton, Ontario. Redeemer’s main facilities were constructed in 1985 and consist of one comprehensive academic building, a mixed-use living and learning centre with an innovation centre, makerspace and lounge areas, 43 townhouse-style residences, 20 apartment-style units, a three-story residence hall and a student recreation centre. The campus includes athletic and recreational facilities for student and off-campus groups. In 2011, in partnership with Ancaster Soccer Club and the City of Hamilton, Redeemer opened a domed athletic facility.
